Orange and Bloomfield Redevelopment
Artists Impression of New Orange Hospital
Design
Following the Government announcement that the new Orange Health Service would satisfy the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines and the bed numbers would be reviewed, Greater Western AHS and NSW Health have been working hard to identify any impact. This has resulted in increases in the gross floor area of the hospital buildings and service capacity. We are currently awaiting approval of the increased scope.
Pinnacle Healthcare and the Project Team have now completed the Schematic Design for the main hospital. The Detailed Design User Group process will commence in September. Design packages are expected to be circulated to User Group members a week prior to the planned meetings so that members can consult with all staff prior to the meetings. In addition to the departmental meetings, the Generic User Groups will also be conducted to cover standard areas across the hospital such as meeting rooms, staff rooms etc..
The Schematic Design for the mental health buildings is planned to be finalised during August and early September.
The current drawings of the new facilities and past User Group Minutes can be viewed in the Executive Office at Orange Base Hospital, the Administration Office at Bloomfield Hospital and ReBOB Office at Ward 11, Bloomfield Hospital.
Copies of the revised design will be progressively displayed at prominent locations at both Orange Base and Bloomfield Hospitals. If you wish to make any comments please send an email to: sophie.nelson@capitalinsight.com.au expressing your concerns and suggested improvements.
Greater Western AHS has formed an Information, Communication and Technology Group to look at the various technologies available to ensure that the new Orange Base Hospital utilises the latest technologies available and will seamlessly interface with Bathurst Base Hospital.
Construction
Construction progress is steady and the builder has now established the long-term site offices on the future car park area along Forest Road. Earthworks are at the required levels on the building site and the piling rig has recommenced installing the foundation piles. In-ground services work is also progressing.
The first visible building construction work has commenced on the medical gas and services building near the Forest Road entry.
Earthworks have been completed to modify the 18th fairway of the golf course so that wayward tee shots do not threaten the hospital grounds and excavation of the dam on the golf course to hold the hospital storm water is well advanced.
